Sightseeing

Walk half a block to the west on Breeze St and you will see the path to Lincoln Beach. It is about 7 miles long and is usually pretty empty. Too cold to swim but great for walking, meditating or surfing.

Fogarty South Creek is popular and close by. Best place to take children because they can play in the streams that flow into the ocean and it is not too cold.

BEST hike in the area is the Knoll at Cascade.  The signs lie.  IT IS STEEP AND HARD AND LONG but getting to the Knoll is SPECTACULAR!  It will take your breath away.

Drift Creek Hike.  Long narrow road to get to starting point but a lovely hike that ends at a waterfall.  Not difficult and very worthwhile. Not in any of the guides or online but drive toward Depoe, park at the end of World Mark Wyndham.  Before the bridge there is a small steep path that becomes a trail along the ocean where you will see thousands of “Flying Penguins” on a massive outcropping. They look like penguins and they sound like Penguins but they aren’t.  They are Murre Chicks.  On rocks nearby you might see a dozen or more sea lions lounging about on many days. When you leave this path you can walk a few blocks south from where you parked to Sunset Street.  Walk to the top past Inn at Arch Rock and you will find a few “Scenic Views” out on the rocks with benches. A real understatement.  Great for whale watching and sitting quietly while being overwhelmed by the beauty of the surrounding environment.

Salishan Nature Trail at the Salishan parking lot —-you will find a nature trail on the north side that goes along the golf course and bay which often has Blue Herron’s and ends with easy beach access.  Lovely.  Maybe half hour or less.
