Entertainment scene

Rainey Street Historic District is just across the highway. This is a great place to people watch while sipping on a beverage and eating something unique. We personally love Bangers for the huge draft beer selection and ANYTHING to eat there. (German themed). This area is usually very busy at night so keep that in mind. We like going during off peak times.

East Austin is a growing favorite for the young and hip who are looking for a more alternative vibe. Walk this area east of Highway 35 on Sixth Street to experience food trucks and a variety of casual and quirky bars, graffiti-style murals and alternatives for dancing, dining and coffee.

Unique shopping

Not far from your AirBNB. This is a great area to spend a half day. Lots of unique stores and places to eat. We like visiting Big Top Candy Shop to bring back memories of childhood candy. Our favorite pizza is located here called Home Slice. You can get a slice and go or dine in.

This is a great place to spend the day. Shopping is the main thing here. But after that, walk to one of the many restaurants and pubs to hang out. The Culinary Dropout is a fun place. The Domain is 15 miles from your stay.

Outdoor sightseeing

My favorite place in Austin. We take our dogs waking here when its not to hot. Im a runner and go there daily. Your airbnb is close to the boardwalk section. Heard it cost 13 million to make the walking bridge. The trail in on both side of ladybird lake with 5 different bridges to cross over depending on the distance you go.

We love bringing "new to Austin" guest here. Breathtaking views from one of the highest points in Austin. We like pretending which house we want to live in and watching the sunset.

Open all year long. The water is crazy cold but fun to jump in and get out real quick. Then you can sunbath or find shade under the pecan trees. Important...... check the hours and restrictions before you go. Most of Thursday is closed for cleaning. Sometimes parking can be tricky. There is a front and back entrance with parking on both sides.

This place is amazing! Don't let the boring name scare you :) They don't take reservations so plan ahead for this one. We go during off peak times to cut out the wait. It's not crazy expensive either. This is in your neighborhood.

This Bbq is fantastic and touristy. We like going during off peak times because it gets pretty busy and parking sucks. It's a little pricey compared to some Bbq joints but the flavors are hitten.

This place is closing down a few of the McDonalds around town here. Some locations are drive thru & outdoor seating. Some have indoor seating. We like the combo and change the drink out for a shake. Many locations. We love supporting the local businesses.

City advice

Book before you go

Austin's traffic is bad, so plan ahead & do your research.

Downtown parking is limited. We use the city parking garages when driving and pay $25 give or take. Uber is common here and scooters are everywhere.
