There is also a great beach walk - start behind the boat club and follows the coast all the way around to Beachlands. Some great spots to stop for a swim on route.
Gets crowded int eh summer but less crowded than going into the city beaches , and better swimming at full tide. - Low tide you can walk in the water for a number of metres to get water above the knees.
