Food Options

Brunch options in Amsterdam and local recommendations in Diemen.
Amazing Indonesian food located on the way to downtown Diemen. The owners are siblings with familial ties to Sumatra, and both decided to quit their fast-pace jobs in Marketing and Advertising and put it towards bringing authentic spicy Indonensian fare to Diemen. Best Indonesian food I've had in the Amsterdam area by leaps and bounds! TIP: Make sure to call ahead to reserve a table as they are often booked up for dinner!

Used as a co-working space during week days, Zoku offers a great buffet breakfast and gorgeous 360 views of the city.

A variety of brunch food items with gorgeous (instagram-worthy) presentation. Located in the center of a garden and with all profits going to the non-profit Dignita, this is one of my favorite spots for brunch in the city.

Amsterdam is known for pancakes, and MOOK offers sweet and savory picks. So many tasty options to choose from! 2 locations in the city, but this is my favorite as it's in a more residential area of the city.

Best brunch in town! To partake, you'll need to swing by in person to put your name in for a table as they don't take reservations beforehand. Completely worth the 30min wait though, and lots of local window shopping opportunities nearby to pass the time and work up an appetite!

Essentials

Modern grocery store with fresh produce, but also pre-made or half-made (a la zucchini pasta or brocolli rice), that make cooking healthy easy. Lots of smoothies and creative salads for takeaway as it's close to a University dorm area.

This is a larger grocery store than the local Albert Heijn, so it has just about everything you could need and has a large 'foreign' food section as well as a few options for reheat meals.
