If you find yourselves going to Boston for a day trip, make the trek up to iconic Harvard Square in Cambridge (if taking the commuter rail into South Station, the Red Line subway has a stop in the transit center that goes directly to Harvard Square - about 15 minute ride). They roast wonderful single origin coffee and only do their drip coffee via pour-over. Their espresso program is accentuated by a sophisticated LaMarzocco. Light bakery fare such as cookies, liege waffles, and caprese sandwiches pair excellently with their amazing coffee in a bright, modern space!

Wonderful timber frame restaurant offers a wide ranging, vegetarian friendly menu with fresh ingredients from their barn that is behind their restaurant. A huge craft beer bar is certainly one of the draws, but their best offering is their wood fired pizza. Also, they often have live jazz performances on their patio. Wonderful summer haunt.

Parks & Nature

Dramatic views here at the Blackstone Gorge. Slightly more complex hiking available here with a lot of side trails. The park straddles the line of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, so one will be able to enjoy walking to another state in a very short amount of time. Lush sounds of water crashing against rocks and various animal sounds make this spot a delight!

One of the highest peaks in Massachusetts. Less than a 1 hour drive away from Twin Oaks. The peak offers striking views of the Boston area from afar, as well as the Berkshires and Connecticut Valley to the other direction. In the summer, you can find any number of challenging trails to hike. However, Mt. Wachusett is most well known for its skiing and snowboarding opportunities in the winter.

It links up with the bike path in Holliston, and so you can explore the Boston Metrowest area while mostly avoiding public thoroughfares. This bike path will offer a cyclist (or jogger) great scenes of the local lakes and ponds, as well as numerous beautiful trees.
