Vindhellavegen is a beautiful and not very long path close to Borgund stave church. Park at Husum, walk Sverrestigen up past the old farm Tråve, visit the beautiful Borgund Stave church and then enjoy the breathtaking Vindhellavegen down to the car. Check out "visitkongevegen. no" for details.

The cabin is a great starting point for easy walks on nice paths right from the door, with opportunities to fish for trout in the small mountain lakes. For instance the path towards Sulebu.

With a free fall of 275 metres Vettisfossen is the highest protected waterfall in Norway. You can get there on foot by walking up the beautiful Utladalen in Øvre Årdal. Drive through beautiful scenery past the lake Tyin to Årdal, park at Hjelle, walk the beautiful Utladalen past the farm Vetti where it is possible to buy some food, to the breathtaking Vettisfossen. There are beautiful (although probably ice cold) bathing places along the road. Also, during summer the outdoor waterpark in Øvre Årdal may be worth a visit.

The King´s trail “Kongevegen over Filefjell” from Lærdal to Vang recently won the EU Prize for Cultural Heritage. Several parts of the 100 km long trail are suitable for day trips by foot or bike. I recommend the scenic hike past Galdane, a well preserved old allotment cottage, and several marked gun positions from WW2. Park at Koret, walk westwards along the King´s road with a stop at Galdane, to Seltun, then cross the road and walk the old post road over Seltunåsen back. Check out "visitkongevegen. no" for details.

Flåm is an hour's drive away. The Flåm railway "Flåmsbana", which is called the world's most beautiful railway trip, and a Fjord cruise on Nærøyfjorden are very popular in Flåm. The newly opened Flåm zip line is Scandinavia´s longest with a span of 1381 meters, speed of 100 km/h and a spectacular view. Tip for a day trip to Flåm: Take Flåmsbana to Vatnahalsen, the zip-line down, enjoy a waffle with home made goat cheese and the friendly goats at "Rallarosas stølsysteri", then rent bikes to ride along Rallarvegen back to Flåm. I recommend to buy tickets and order bikes beforehand.

Join a beautiful journey across Bygdinvannet with historic M / B Bitihorn. On board Bygdinbåten you see many of Jotunheimen’s mighty peaks towering along the water. The boat calls at Bygdin, Torfinnsbu and Eidsbugarden, all of which are great starting points for experiences in the mountains. The boat at Bygdin operates daily during the season from the end of June to mid-September. Check out "jvb. no" for tickets and details
