Food Scene

Posh fish n chips! But with unlimited chips you can’t argue. Locally caught fish is on the menu as well as traditional fry. Booking is advisable but turn up for an early supper around 4 or 5 in season and you should be fine.

Great breakfasts until 2 pm. Incredibly popular with tourists and locals alike. To avoid the queues I tend to go off season. But Alf’s breakfast is not to be missed.

This was a favourite when I was a kid (a few years back now) if only for the then landlord’s jokes but I’ve recently heard a few locals rave about it. Try it and tell me!

A very popular pub and although the food is standard pub faire the Tuesday Curry Night does come recommended. I hadn’t been in over 10 years and thought I’d give it a whirl this summer (2019). I wasn’t disappointed. Eat as much as you like for around £12. Get in early to grab those popadoms!

Drinks & Nightlife

Sit outside for a great view of the Dart. This is what you’d call a good honest boozer. I haven’t had an ale in a while now but taking your pint outside and looking out over the harbour is a pleasure everyone should savour.

Beaches

Three of our favourite beaches... all in walking distance!
Absolutely our favourite beach. 10 mins by car or a 50 minute walk up Weeke Hill and through Stoke Fleming. If you’re feeling fit walk around to Dartmouth Castle and take the coastal path all the way there. It’ll take around 1 hour 30 mins with some stunning views of Start Bay. Light shingle with crystal clear water in an idyllic setting.

The nearest swimming beach to the property. A ten minute walk out toward the castle. Best in the morning and at higher tides. Light shingle and rocks.

You can reach this exquisite Compass Cove in 30 minutes on foot from our house. Follow the coastal path for 15 mins from Dartmouth Castle. Be advised there are steep steps down to the beach but early in the day can have the place to yourself. Light shingle and a few rocks.
