Parks & Nature

(Short walk) Head up to the headland about 30 minutes before sunset, sit on the hill, watch the ocean and the way the sun makes different colours on the land and sky. You can’t take a bad photo! Walking the headland will orientate you to the area and it’s hidden coves too. During Winter see whales breaching, tail slapping, sky hopping and blowing.

Swim at the surf beach OR the little ones might like the calm water at Cudgen Creek. Near the bridge "Watersport Guru" hires out kayaks and other fun goodies. When driving from Caba along Casuarina Way, take the road off to your right just before crossing the bridge/watersport guru area and drive to the end, find a spot, and set up your beach tent by the sea for the day.

Great for nature lovers, cyclists and walkers. Free. We drove to Murwillumbah, parked the car and cycled to Hosanna FarmStay with our kids. Roughly 8.5kms to get from M’Bar to Hosanna FarmStay. Path is flat and wide. Ice-cream and lollies are sold at the General Store in Stokers sliding. A little further along is Hosanna FarmStay where our kids purchased $2.50 bags of food to feed the animals. Other activities farm tours & activities can be purchased. Lunch and toilet facilities are at both stops. Bike hire is available from “Murwillumbah cycles”- (recommend pre booking). Electric bikes can be booked too and they can arrange a one way pick up if you wish to do all the 23.7kms. Access to the Tweed Regional gallery is available via steps. The Burringbar Range Tunnel section requires a bike light, we didn’t get there on this occasion but will add it to the wish list.

Drinks & Nightlife

Must try an Ink Gin when in Cabarita. Nestled in the Tweed Valley on the North Coast of New South Wales, the distillery is set on the family cattle & cane farm. Ten minutes from some of Australia’s best surf beaches and overlooked by Wollumbin (Mt Warning), the distillery is primarily a paddock-to-bottle agricole rum distillery with a focus on sustainable farming and innovative distilling. Husk Plantation Distillery is not currently open to the public, however a new distillery complete with cellar door and bar will open at the plantation in mid 2018. For more information visit www.huskdistillers.com.
