Parks & Nature

Highland Trekking and Trail Riding (www.highlandponytrekking.com) operate from Cougie, a small settlement about 3 miles up the hill from the house. Our friends, Iain and Sasha, have a number of ponies and are happy to take small or large parties up and over the hills for either a day trip or for overnight stays. There's no better way to really see the wild beauty of the countryside around Tomich. We'd recommend getting in touch in advance as they can be very busy during peak times. They operate throughout the year. The road from Tomich to Cougie can be a challenge for a small car, so they will be happy to pick you up from Tomich if needed.

Sightseeing

Cromarty is about an hour's drive from Tomich, but well worth a visit. Some interesting shops, good cafes and stunning views. There's also a small museum in the old courthouse and a fascinating church.

Shopping

If you like second hand book shops, Leakey's in Inverness is a must-visit. Located in an old church, the stock is vast and will keep the average bibliophile happy for hours. There's also a raging fire when the weather's a bit nippy.

Essentials

The local shop, about 3 miles from the house is open every day throughout the year. Brad and Nicole stock a good range of essentials and gifts, as well as a few surprises in the freezer.
