Food Scene

A small out of the way restaurant, just a few hundred meters from Cabina Clarissa, right on the beach road. Andrea makes wonderful fresh fish dishes, but she is famous for her thick hamburgers with home-made buns! She has toys for kids, books for adults, and a hammock, if you want to rest while she cooks from scratch! She even has a sloth that likes to hang out around the bushes of the outdoor restaurant!

Miss Edith's offers authentic Afro-Caribbean cuisine, Fresh catch of the day with coconut milk, garlic, or her authentic (and secret) jerk recipes are fabuluous! Don't miss this one....my favorite is her jerk, but it will make you sweat! Give yourself plenty of time, everything is made fresh....walk to the side of the restaurant and check out their fishing boats, or watch the ocean against the sea wall. They have a couple of tables outside as well....

If you are wandering around the village of Cahuita on a hot afternoon, stop by Cafe Cahuita. They serve fruit smoothies, ice cream and coffee. They also have wifi. I prefer a good cappuccino or one of their strawberry and banana smoothies, but my grandson says their mixto icecream is the best!

This is an interesting restaurant because they have movie night that starts around 7:00-7:30! A large screen with two big sofas, and tables around the edges and outside. The cool thing about Cocorico is that you can bring your kids (close to 5:00-5:30), they will put on a kids movie and they can hang out and eat pizza. They also have great salads and really yummy Mojitos (for the adults of course!)

Drinks & Nightlife

You can't always catch a live band at Reggae Bar, but they always have some great music playing. Live music is generally on a Friday or Saturday night. But it's a great place to hang out right in front of Playa Negra. It's only a Km from Cabina Clarissa, so it's a five minute bike ride, or a 10-15 minute walk down the beach road. You can buy a drink, eat lunch or dinner, and they have picnic tables on the beach. Nice, relaxed atmosphere

Parks & Nature

Cahuita National Park is a must-see! Miles of trails running along-side the Caribbean Sea. You will see sloths, white-face monkeys, and much more. Around the bend, almost to the point, the sea is so calm, it's like a lake. Beautiful day-long event! When you're done, relax at the National Park seaside restaurant, enjoy a beverage and watch the kids play, buy some fresh fruit, and watch the surfers come out in the late afternoon to catch the waves at the opening of the park! Best of all, it's free!

From Playa Grande to Playa Negra, there are several beautiful black beaches to choose from. It's really worth taking the bikes that we offer, packing a picnic and riding along the beach road to enjoy the many spots along the way. You will see wildlife and many little beach hideaways. A cheap and interesting adventure!

Sightseeing

The Bri Bri Waterfalls only cost 1,000 colones and are really worth seeing, especially on a hot afternoon! There are two waterfalls and a creek that connects them. It's a fun trip for the family and very affordable. They also have snacks and drinks that you can purchase, and provide walking sticks, which I highly recommend.
