Very good service and gastronomic slope mixing French and Portuguese / Mediterranean very tasty. Interesting tasting menus. Located in the heart of Lisbon, close enough to the Baixa to do a walking tour, Coliseu, São Jorge or even Terreiro do Paço. They accept reservations and have valet parking. The facilities are nice, not being the top of Lisbon. Price segment is relatively high, but worth the price.

Chapito is located a couple of minutes' walk from Castelo de Sáo Jorge. Its restaurant is one of the quirkiest in town, a colourful and vibrant eatery set in a mustard-hued townhouse. Tables are also set outside across a courtyard and a small covered terrace, and diners are treated to a spectacular downtown panorama. Food is deliciously appetising -- the menu lists fresh crunchy salads, seafood dishes such as octopus and sweet potato, and assorted toasted sandwiches and tempting desserts. Wine is served by the glass as well as by bottle -- a dry white works wonders on a hot day! Given its location and the quality of service, a meal here is excellent value for money.

This is one of the most romantic spots in Lisbon. It's a landscaped terrace next to a small church of the same name, offering a beautiful panoramic view of the city's oldest district, Alfama. The dome of the National Pantheon, Santo Estêvão Church and São Miguel Church stand out among the sea of rooftops below, while the vines that climb up the pergola provide shade on the upper level. The lower terrace allows you to stay in the sun by a reflecting pool. At the center of the bougainvillea garden is a bust of Lisbon historian Júlio de Castilho, and behind it are two tile panels -- one illustrating St. George's Castle being taken over from the Moors in 1147, and the other showing Comércio Squa

Although located in an area surrounded by tourist restaurants, Solar dos Presuntos still stands out for its genuine atmosphere and quality cuisine. It offers excellent fish and seafood dishes (including the city's best paella, according to some), but the roast kid and other quality meat dishes are other highlights. It's all served in a cavernous interior that gets quickly packed, with walls covered in photos and caricatures of Portuguese celebrities from the past and present. Another eye-catching feature is a tank by the entrance with lobsters together with other sea creatures waiting to be cooked.

It started as an 18th century chapel, then became a grocery store and bar. It's now a Fado restaurant which incorporated the 18th century features such as the beautiful tile panels in its décor, and with an informal ambience. The Elevador de Santa Justa (Santa Justa Lift) is a beautifully crafted elevator that transports passengers from the Baixa district up to the ruins of the Igreja do Carmo church. The Elevador de Santa Justa is an industrial-age marvel, with the outer ironwork structure forming glorious neo-gothic arches, while inside two sumptuous polished wood carriages whisk passengers up in style. Functionally, the Elevador de Santa Justa provides an invaluable service to tourists by eliminating the slog up Carmo Hill, but the vision of the designer transformed a grand functional machine into a wondrous piece of art that is adored by Lisbon's residents.

One of the city's oldest buildings, a survivor of the 1755 earthquake, is found on Largo do Menino Deus. It's an emblematic house from the 1500s that maintains the traditional architecture of the time, with three floors and an outside stairway, narrow doors and balconies. Also common was the triangular roof found on another charming house nearby, on Rua dos Cegos. Also on Largo do Menino Deus is an impressive but little-known church, Igreja do Menino de Deus.

The postcard-perfect panoramic views from this “balcony” ("the gateway of the sun") over Alfama go from the St. Vincent Monastery to the National Pantheon and the Church of St. Stephen. It's a must-photograph spot. At the center, facing the Decorative Arts Museum, is a statue of St. Vincent (Lisbon’s patron saint), holding the symbols of the city - a boat with two ravens. This is where you have the best sunrise views in town, and is the ideal starting point for a walk through the streets of Alfama.

COMUR – Fábrica de Conservas da Murtosa recently made one of its oldest dreams come true, by opening in Lisbon a space to pay tribute to the Portuguese Sardine and to all that popular fish has already done for the country. The formula found for that purpose was “Mundo Fantástico da Sardinha Portuguesa”, a space that attempts to respect one of the most extraordinary features of the Atlantic prodigy: to be noble and popular at the same time. The store proposes to revisit the last century of history in Portugal and in the World, therefore promoting also a reflection on the last centenary of canned fish in Portugal. Hence, in the cans there are dates since 1916 until 2017 .
