Cafe within a fruit farm - a must-experience venue - as seen on the BBC's ‘Normal for Norfolk’ series. Downside - because of all the publicity it does get REALLY busy, so book ahead! Better in the daytime than evening. Desmond also has some garden tours scheduled over the summer - phone ahead to book.

We love this quirky retro, diner-style cafe, with its relaxed beachside vibe and amazing sea views! Find it half way down the steps from Cliff Road car park. Their flapjack menu and hot chocolate selections are world famous :-) If you want to go, make sure it is before the end of October 2018, as the owners are transforming into an online flapjack company.

A trip to Cromer is not complete until you've experienced The Rocket House :-) Sited up on the roof, above the Henry Blogg Lifeboat Museum, the outside balconies have spectacular views of Cromer Pier. For added quirkiness you can glide down one floor in the glass lift from the gardens at High Street level above. The menu is fun and funky with daily specials. Try out their delicious crab wraps.

Byfords deli has lush ice-cream from the outside window in summer (including a daily dairy-free option), plus warming soups and stews - which change every day - to take away in autumn and winter. You can also buy lovely freshly-bread, pasties, sausage rolls and quiches as well as generous portions of rustic cakes (flapjacks, bakewell tarts, millionaire's shortbread, carrot cake), and a selection of sponge cakes whole, or by the portion. There's also a juice bar, plus they will assemble and cook a tasty pizza for you while you wait.

A meat-lovers mecca, this Gastropub - specialising in game - is uniquely situated in it's own 18th Century, 1,000 acre deer park. There is much Gothic food theatre to be enjoyed here, as the chef sears your choice of steak over the Elk Room's open fire, as you look on by candlelight. On dark winter nights there is something of a touch of the Hammer Horror about this venue, approached in proper, country, pitch-black-darkness through it's creaking iron gate.... In summer, the venue has its own food and music festival. At any time of year, definitely book, book, book in advance!

Sightseeing

One of the UK's few remaining piers, complete with its very own 'End of The Pier' variety show at The Pavilion Theatre. During the daytime in the high holiday season, there are always plenty of families out crabbing, with buckets at the ready and crab lines dangling hopefully over the side There is also a working lifeboat station at the very end, which is open to the public.
