Food Scene

A very local feel. Pick your fresh seafood from the display and grab a Taiwan Beer while it's being BBQed. Crap furniture, inattentive-but-friendly service, and happy, noisy locals are highlights.

The first, original Din Tai Fung restaurant, famous for its delicious "xiaolongbao" soupy steamed dumplings. The menu is varied and you can't go wrong -- a great intro to Taiwanese cuisine.

Raohe is by far my favourite night market -- it's one long street crammed with food stalls so you can do one circuit and sample many different foods -- go hungry!
