Arguably, the best barbecue in St. Louis. During lunch, the lines can be a bit long but worth the wait.

A short distance outside Soulard proper but if you're looking for a nicer dinner, this is a great place. Has the eclectic feel of Soulard but the chefs' creations are definitely several notches above the standard bar fare of the neighborhood.

Just what the name says...really tasty pizza, subs and other items you'd expect to find a this type of restaurant. It's a walk-up-and-order establishment but your options are to eat in their place, outside, or place your order and go next door to International Tap House (iTap) and they'll bring your food to you (what I recommend!).

Soulard's iconic steakhouse is low-key and very unpretentious. If you want a great meal at a very decent price, Tuckers will take care of your needs. It's not fancy but definitely not a dive, just a neighborhood restaurant that specializes in steak and other grilled food.

Probably St. Louis' most well-known Irish pub. Inside, you'll find an authentic, Irish pub atmosphere with live music in the evenings (often bands from Ireland) and one of Soulard's largest patios. They serve good food and definitely have plenty of drinks. Slainte!

Sightseeing

It's the Arch...go see it! If you've never been, it's definitely a must-see. Whether standing beneath it to look up and marvel at it's size or taking a ride up to the top and looking over Missouri and Illinois, it's a great experience. If you like to jog or walk, it's definitely close enough to visit without a vehicle. Otherwise, grab a cab or Uber and check it out.

A huge and beautiful botanical garden, nestled within the city limits. There is an admission fee but there are lots of different gardens to see and trails to walk. My favorite is the peaceful Japanese garden and my daughter loves feeding the fish in the koi pond. http://www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/

Entertainment & Activities

Indescribably cool place! It's kind of for children but not really. It's the brainchild of an adult artist who took a huge, multi-story warehouse building and turned it into a giant art installation/jungle gym/museum. You can climb on things and slide down slides and ride on things and go in tunnels, behind walls, from floor to floor. It's truly an amazing place...one of St. Louis' not-so-hidden gems! http://www.citymuseum.org/
