Expect a wait at this breakfast/ brunch place. Fairly new to the Winnipeg scene and opened by one of our most celebrated chefs. Food is on the rich/ decadent side, but oh so good, and won't break the bank. Great brunch cocktails!

I dream about Dansk's schnitzel! This restaurant is a Winnipeg icon. Cozy, wood panel decor. Seasoned servers, and ABUNDANT Eastern European dishes. The chicken schnitzel is my favourite, but everything here is good. I dare you to finish your meal! They close pretty early, and they take reservations.

Charming spot in the Wolseley neighbourhood. Good food and great cocktails. Adorable patio in the summertime. They have a daytime cafe menu earlier in the day and serve coffee, and change over to their dinner menu in the evening.

Drinks & Nightlife

If they are open, there is live music. This is a Winnipeg institution! Small, unpretentious hole in the wall with great people and great music. Expect to pay a cover, but it will be worth it! They also have some basic Mexican style food that is yummy and cheap. Highly recommend if you want a low key, fun filled night.

This is a spring / summer outdoor pop up spot that often has live bands or dj’s and food too! Set along the river, it’s a great vibe and easy to walk too.

The Exchange district is compromised of an area on the East and West sides of Main street. On the West side, there are tons of great boutiques, from Vintage to Jewelry, and everything in between. Also a lot of great eating options. On the East side, there are bars and restaurants, and the hub of the theatre area. Cobblestone streets and beautiful architecture...the Exchange used to be Winnipeg's Manufacturing district.

Essentials

Small grocery store with everything you need. Prices are a little higher and a bit less selection but it will do the trick for a small shop. There is a Food Fare on the corner of Westminster and Maryland. And another one that is larger at Portage and Burnell.

Edward Carriere Hair Salon/ Spa is close by and has been open for decades. It’s a great salon and prices are reasonable. They are open until 11pm on some days, and you can usually get a same day appointment. All the stylists are good! Also offer aesthetics. It is in a beautiful century old building at the corner of Spence and Broadway.
