Karen Dudley has lived and honed her culinary skills in Washington DC and in London, but now lives in Woodstock, Cape Town. She has this tiny, but amazing restaurant that prepares a daily menu and if you arrive by 12, you can choose your items from a buffet and pay for what you eat. The food is absolutely divine. http://www.lovethekitchen.co.za/

Woodstock is an edgy, evolving neighborhood where hipster cafes, veggie eateries and galleries occupy old factories covered with vivid murals. The renovated Old Biscuit Mill is home to cool design stores and hosts the weekly Neighbourhoods Market, with street food stalls, African handicrafts and designer fashion. On nearby streets, quirky stores sell vintage fashion, upcycled furniture and antiques. (Wikipedia). Gentrifications is evident here but it makes for an amazing experience. Do hold on to your belongings such as fancy cameras you leave unattended while you gaze on the scenery. It can be snatched here easily. But it is worth a great visit.

More or less between the apartment and the Waterfront is a suburb called De Waterkant. Cobble streets and walking distance to shops, it is a great area to stay in overnight or in an Airbnb or other short term rental. Nice vibe. Safe area. We always love to drive out to Hout Bay – mainly for the nice ride along Chapman’s Peak. But our treat is to go eat fish and chips there at the harbor and enjoy the birds that have become very aquinted with the humans (guilty from feeding them I guess). But still a nice stop to make for Lunch if you drive out that way.

The Motor Museum is an interesting place covering more than 100 years of Motoring History. You will find South Africa’s First Perfume Museum. Take note that you have to MAKE A BOOKING in advance to do this, Below is a link where you can see what are offered as packages when you go to Franschhoek or the Motor Museum. Wineries near this area are plenty, including the famous La Motte, Boekenhoutskloof and Eikehof Wines. The town has many art, curio shops and eateries. And the Monuments there tells the history of the Huguenotes. I would not pay a visit to the Museum unless you have a specific interest. But a visit to the town in general is a worthy outing. You can get to Noordhoek when you take a drive out on Chapmans Peak or you can go the inland road. Famous for its beautiful white sand beaches in a Nature Conservation Reserve. You can go horse riding here on the beach, Caution re security at times. There had been some incidents with people on their own, but my understanding is that following those security has been increased. But I would not feel comfortable not pointing that out. The horse community is very tight knit in this area and if you stop in at the “The Toad in the Village”.
