This local coffee charmer by day and wine bar by night is the love child of head Bondi lifeguard Bruce “Hoppo” Hopkins. Being owned and operated by locals means one thing – honest and genuine experiences without any unnecessary flapping or fuss. Considered among the best coffees in Bondi, while not going to the boutique lengths found in some coffee specialty shops, we recommend stopping by Chapter One. With a great view of the beach and being in a slightly out of the way location means that you don’t have to elbow your way to a decent table, as can sometimes be the case on the main strip.

Café by day and chic restaurant at night, Drake Eatery is a great local spot with a fresh and regularly changing menu. Owned and operated by Bondi local and superstar chef, Ian Oakes, the food is excellent and the cocktails are even better. Being centre stage in the main dining room, the open kitchen provides an element of theatre. Not a bad cup of coffee either (if you can resist the cocktails). We recommend the oysters at Drake – they are freshly shucked and go down a treat.

Chef and owner Sean Moran opened the restaurant in 1993 and what a spot he scored! The restaurant looks straight onto Bondi Beach, so the al fresco dining option is highly recommended (they’ll even bring you a little blanket for your legs if you’re chilly). This is a quaint, produce-driven restaurant with tasting menus and set meals. Sean’s Panorama is all about fresh food and enjoyable eating in a friendly atmosphere. Pricey, but worth it. BYO available, bookings essential.

A beautiful recreation area in the middle of Sydney’s densely populated eastern suburbs. It is also home to diverse flora and fauna and many significant tree plantings, including spectacular Port Jackson figs, Holm oaks and Norfolk Island pines dating back to the early 20th century. Today Centennial Park is a playground for adults and children of all ages and is one of the few inner city parks in the world to offer horse riding facilities.
