Coffee shops: The Roost, Northampton Coffee, Tart, Woodstar, Haymarket (the most "hippie" cafe with a good vegetarian restaurant on the lower floor). Bakeries: Hungry Ghost (amazing pizza in the afternoon too), Woodstar, Tart, Patisserie Lenox. Bookstore: The Raven. If you have a car: the Book Mill in Montague, which is next to the Alvah Stone restaurant. There are two other book sellers in northampton but I don't remember their names...
