Horseback Riding

Just 3 miles south on Lewiston Plank Rd. is our friend Carly Tilson Woolfolk who offers horseback riding exclusively for Waverly Farms guests. Riders and the curious of all ages enjoy Carly’s introduction to her horses and ponies. Whether riding or just helping around the barn and learning about horses, our guests always have fun. Fees are $25/hour per person for riders. Most ride for an hour, but some stay longer. Experienced riders might enjoy her trails. Advanced reservations are required. Best to reach Carly through Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/carly.woolfolk Carly can also be reached by phone at +1 (804) 892-0448, but she prefers Facebook where she has a record if your requests. Be sure to tell her you are a guest at Waverly Farms.

Arts & Culture

It's a bit dusty, but an amazing collection of the rail road that built our area. Kids will enjoy the miniature trains inside and going into real rail cars outside. There is no charge but donations are appreciated.

The history of segregation and desegregation of schools is well displayed at this historic site that caused Prince Edward County to close it's public schools for 5 years in opposition to desegregation. A must see for historians.

Rent Bikes at High Bridge Bike Rental, or bring your own, or just take a walk along this "rail to trail" beauty. The park's centerpiece is the majestic High Bridge, which is more than 2,400 feet long and 125 feet above the Appomattox River. It is the longest recreational bridge in Virginia and among the longest in the United States. High Bridge, a Virginia Historic Landmark, is on the National Register of Historic Places.
