Parks & Nature

There is a trail leading from the coach up through a greenbelt, under a wooden bridge and two blocks up Irving Avenue to the Cathedral tree & Astoria Column Trailhead. It is a beautiful setting to get away from it all. How can you not enjoy a temperate rain forest?! This is a must for anyone that hasn't had the experience.

There is a trail from the coach's front door into the woods leading to the column, as well as the Cathedral Tree. Both are wonderful hikes and are well worth bringing your hiking boots for!

Arts & Culture

This is a must-see for anybody! I go to see the exhibits multiple times per year as they are constantly changing and always interesting.

This museum is a great spot to lean about our abundant local history and from within a beautiful historic former town hall building.

Run of the mill Safeway. It's the closest spot for groceries and everything else that Safeway carries.

Food Scene

This is a great little hole in the wall cafe that knows how to do the organic/vegan/locally sourced food thing right! They have great meats, too, but I enjoy everything they make (I'm a big meat-eater, but I go nuts for their vegan specials!) Tip: If you like fresh squeezed greyhounds, mimosas or screwdrivers, this is your spot. Try the E-shot, it is amazing.

This is a tavern that does an amazing job with their food! Best greasy spoon eats in town, hands down! Chicken fried steak? You get a massive slab! Biscuits and gravy? A platter full of the heavenly substance. Great sandwiches and burgers, and a quality dive bar drink to boot! Very reasonable prices and indoor/outdoor seating. Food made late night.

Everything Else

Another one of Astoria's fine museums located in the stately Queen Anne Victorian home of the first prominent Columbia River bar pilot captain George Flavel. Lots of local history to be learned about here, as well as a look into how wealthy individuals lived in the late 1800s. Too neat to pass up!
