There are hundreds of seal and sea lions here most of the year, on a reef just a little bit off shore. Bring your binoculars to get a real close up view. Great hiking trails along the bluff and beach.

Little street side establishment next to the harbor parking lot and covered picnic shelter. There are some outside tables and a few inside. Really good fish tacos and you can ask for lettuce instead of cabbage. Other fresh fish options and good crab cakes also. Not fancy and very casual. Take note that they close at 6pm though...I could never figure that one out! Open at 10am...good lunch option.

This area just north of Brookings is one of the most scenic areas of all of Oregon. There are many places to pull out and walk down little trails to amazing views of coves or just look from the parking lot. Arch Rock viewpoint (the one with the restroom and picnic tables) and Thunder Rock are a few of my favorites. Cape Ferralo and Cape Sebastion are also great places to pull off to visit. Stunning views up and down the coast from Cape Sebastion (keep left at the fork to reach the top) One of my favorite trails is Indian Sands where there is a large parking lot and a very steep trail down to some amazing sandstone cliffs and coves if you keep left at the bottom of the trail. After that if you travel north for about 1/4 mile or so you will pass through some incredible formations and then come to a trail that will take you through a tunnel of trees back up towards the highway. You can then walk back to your car about 1/4 mile or so along the road. This trail is very steep and there is some lose sand to walk in so it is not for the faint of heart!

One of my favorite little coves to visit at mile post 345.3 north of Brookings. There is a very small parking area that is not marked at all on the west side of the road with room for just a few cars. I have recommended this to many guests and every one who stops there seems to love it. There is a very short but steep trail down to the beach which might be tricky if it is wet, but you will be greatly rewarded. If you can plan to do this around low tide you can go south of the beach less than 1/4 mile and you will come to a huge arch you can walk under. It is a magical place!

This is almost 2 hours north of Bandon but I like to mention it in case you are traveling in that area. There is a wonderful visitors center here with a trail under the highway to get to some amazing unique coastline, featuring lava flows that entered ocean here many many years ago. There is a Spouting Horn and Thors Well worth seeing. You can also drive about 1 mile up to the top of Cape Perpetua and get beautiful views down the coast. (or you can hike it as well) There is a nice 6 mile or so loop from the visitors center that takes you into the rainforest and back that I love to do. Very unique area to visit and then the town of Yachats is also cute and interesting to visit just north of there.
