Food Scene

Perhaps I'm biased because I worked for Belair, but man does this place have great specials! On Tuesdays and Thursdays, they have select $2 tacos (if you get 3 or more, you get free rice and beans as well), $2 mystery tequila shots, $2 Modelo and Dos Equis drafts, $2 Tecate cans, and $2 Modelo cans. While they may not be "authentic" Mexican cuisine, they provide a large menu with plenty of options made from fresh ingredients. Just be sure to plan accordingly; they do not take reservations and can go on a very long wait. Or, you could always snag a spot from the bar.

This tiny, colorful Mexican restaurant offers some fresh and tasty Mexican cuisine. They have plenty of vegan options as well as plenty of non-vegan ones as well. If you happen to go on a Tuesday, you'll be able to take advantage of their $2 taco, $5 margarita, and 2-for-1 Mexican and domestic beer, wine, and rail cocktail special. Check out their website for more daily specials.

Colectivo is hands-down my favorite coffee shop in the Milwaukee area. There are plenty of different Colectivo's (I also listed the one on the lakefront), but this one is in the heart of Riverwest and contains their roasting and warehouse facility. They have a beautiful outside seating area, but also have a cozy atmosphere inside as well. They're open early (6:30am on the weekdays, 7:00am on the weekend) and close at 10pm, making them one of the latest closing coffee shops in the area.

A little bit farther than the Colectivo on Humbolt, this is the most popular Colectivo in Milwaukee (formerly Alterra). People love this location because it sits right along the Milwaukee lakefront, allowing you to grab a hot latte and exploring the beautiful scenery. It can be very busy, but there is always parking across the street in the McKinley Marina (Tip: try their espresso shake and veggie pesto burrito).

Whether you love Greek food, never tried Greek food, or just want food and don't know what's open until 3:00am (except Sunday), then look no further. Consistently rated as a favorite by locals, Oakland Gyros has amazing (you guessed it) gyros, killer chocolate malts, low prices, friendly staff, and late hours.
