Best ice-cream bar in Copenhagen! The ice-cream is gelato inspired using fresh, ecological ingredients (local if possible), made in small portions in the back to secure freshness. Nuts are from Italy and they have their chocolate made in France. They have daily specialities - freshly baked cones or cups. Take away is possible too. Expect queues, but it will be worth it. https://ismageriet.dk

Getting Around

This is the station you get off at, from the Airport - on the way to the central Train Station. It's an important public transportation intersection, where you have a choice of metro or (local)trains to downtown (The Metro runs 24/7), the Central station or Sweden (a short train ride away). Why not take a day trip north along the eastern coast to Ordrupgaard, Louisiana, the deer Park, karen Blixen's House and of course Elsinore?

Bring your picknick baskets and find a perfect spot with a view to the deers roaming free, or go to to the old amusement park "Bakken". Dyrehaven ('The Deer Park') is a forest park north of Copenhagen. It covers around 11 km2 (4.2 sq mi). Dyrehaven is noted for its mixture of huge, ancient oak trees and large populations of red and fallow deer. In July 2015, it was one of the three forests included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site inscribed as Par force hunting landscape in North Zealand. All entrances to the park have a characteristic red gate; one of the most popular entrances is Klampenborg gate, close to Klampenborg station

If you are an architecture geek and you love danish architect Jørn Utzon, these houses are a MUST! Built between 1957 and 1960, they consist of 60 gardenhoses placed in a hilly landscape between Kingosvej, Carl Plougs Vej, Gurrevej and Montebello. The houses are app. 100 m², built as angle houses on a 15 x 15 m plot. The houses are beautifully placed in the landscape consisting of hills, a lake and a meadow. Originally called the Kingo houses, people quickly named them the roman houses, as the design recalls the old roman atrium houses.

Another Utzon project for those architecture geeks out there: The LO School. Utzon won both 1st and 3rd prize, but had to let the architects winning 2nd prize build the project, as the Sydney Operahouse "got in the way". The mail building has a beautiful atrium with old trees, and 6 student houses are placed outside, creating streetlife and gardens in a labyrinth rich in experiences

Rungstedlund, also known as the Karen Blixen Museum, is a country house in Rungsted, notable for its association with the author Karen Blixen, who lived there for most of her life. She was born on the estate in 1885, and returned there after her years in Kenya, chronicled in her book "Out of Africa", to do most of her writings. Karen Blixen's home has been preserved largely unchanged with its original furniture, decor and book. The museum also features a complete collection of her oil paintings. The museum also hosts special exhibitions about the author's life and writings.......Visiting is a step back in time.
