Great views of the harbor and town. Often have food trucks in the parking lot or you can grab a picnic from Market Basket. Hidden sandy beach to the south of the marina building.

A portion of this road is low-traffic and great for walking on. There are a few places where rocks jut out into the harbor that are great for swimming or just sunning off.

Lots of great hikes (some with wild blueberries!), and beautiful views. The east side of the mountain is The Snowbowl town ski center in the winter.

Fun fresh-water swimming from a beach or a small dock. Usually quiet and relaxed. A nice bike ride from our house if you don't mind a bit of rt. 17 riding and some hills!

Great hikes and views. You can drive up to the tower on Mt. Battie for a great look-out, but it's considered "the beaten path" by locals. The Megunticook hike offers great views with fewer folks!

Beautiful forest hikes near the water with some swimming and picnic-ing options. We like to canoe here from the boat-launch off rt. 105 and jump in.

A convenient fresh-water swimming spot, especially for kids. Picnic tables, bathrooms, a roped-off swimming area with a floating dock and sand beach. Only down-side is it's a bit exposed rt. 17.

I would wager this is the best Thai food in the U.S. And I'm a foodie. The prices are ridiculously low for such great food too. But be sure to make a reservation and be patient for your meal!

Imagine sipping a dark & stormy out on a pier under strung lights with a gourmet oyster Po' boy and the sunset glinting off the estuary around you...that's my typical night at the Slipway...awesome.
