One of the best Italian restaurants in London (we think!) and reasonably priced for what it offers. Booking is usually essential but you can get lucky. The Barbera D’Alba is delicious.

On the edge of Borough Market in a prime people watching spot, and with fantastic tortilla and other Spanish fare. Not the cheapest, but well worth a visit.

You'll see a non-descript office door with a doorbell. Ask nicely for entrance, and after a few flights of stairs you'll be rewarded with a hidden roof garden with views of London and the Shard.

Tiny but mouthwatering tapas, our favourite croquettes in London. You’ll be lucky to get a seat, but if you’re happy to stand and watch the chefs at work then you’ll be glad you popped in.
