Food Scene

This is my favorite non-chain restaurant in Stafford, VA. The food is delicious and made from scratch. I love the pizza & meatballs on the appetizer menu as well as the lamb shank & anything pasta on the dinner menu. The wine list is great and they have specials on Wednesday nights. On Friday nights there is a man playing the keyboard when you walk in and he sings classics, like Sinatra! Prices range from $15-30+ for dinner here.

The food is fresh, farm to table style. The owner of the restaurant was on a cooking show on TV, her name is Joy Crump. The setting is different in that you order from a register and sit down and wait. There really isn't a service staff that waits on your and tips are optional. The food is so good here you'll leave a tip anyways!

Drinks & Nightlife

Brock's is a Fredericksburg staple - they've been a mainstay for over 17+ years in the downtown area. They have LIVE music on the deck almost every night of the week with a great view of the Rappahanock River. The drinks are great, wine list is good and the food is amazing and has been since they opened. My favorite appetizer the Southwest Eggrolls and my favorite entrée is anything on special but definitely the steaks! The Old Town Salad is enough for two and delicious as well! There are plenty of TVs located inside to catch your favorite game and on Sunday's there is a Mimosa bar and Bloody Mary bar set up. Prices range from $15-35 for dinner entrees.

Parks & Nature

This park has over 35 miles of trails to hike for all levels of hikers. There is also camping and cabins available in the park. It is $7 per car load to visit the park - and that is for a week long pass! I have hiked over 10 miles in one day in this park and it was a perfect park close by my home.

Sightseeing

Washington DC has so many places to visit. I would suggest parking on 18th Street NW between F and G Streets - it's $23 for the day until 10pm but check with the guys at the gate when you enter to make sure. You can walk to the Renwick Gallery (free entry) and then see the White House from both sides, cruise down to Constitution Street and head towards the Lincoln Memorial; see the Vietnam Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, the Reflecting Pond, then head towards the Washington Monument and see the World War II Memorial, head over to the Jefferson Memorial and see the Tidal Basin (and maybe the cherry blossoms if it's spring) and then head up to the Mall and walk all the museums and end up at the Capitol Building. Head towards the Verizon Center from there and see Chinatown! Be careful in this area though - and there are a ton of great restaurants - one of my favorites is the DC Chophouse, great steaks and appetizers! From there you can head back towards the White House and if you're still hungry stop in to Old Ebbitt Grille on 15th Street NW, this is one of the oldest restaurants in Washington DC and his HUGE on the inside with multiple rooms to sit and a great raw bar. After that, catch one last picture of the Washington Monument from the W Hotel - head through the lobby tot he elevators up to the POV Lounge on the rooftop. The drinks and food are expensive in here - you are paying for the view! After that, return to your car at the garage on 18th Street NW!

Shopping

This is one of the largest outlet malls on the East Coast! You can literally walk miles inside of this mall. The stores are endless it seems :) There are also good restaurants surrounding the mall, Matchbox is one of my favorites!
