Where do we begin... an AMAZING local family run cafe with the best coffee in town and hands down Delicious food that is catered through out North Vancouver. The spot is lovely, right on the corner of 8th and St. Andrews with views of the local mountains and park that offers a field, putting green and sun drenched picnic tables surrounded by mature trees if you want to take your coffee outdoors. Next door is the best hand crafted ice cream shop (The Welcome Parlour) in town as well. Not a bad combo. Good coffee, good people, good setting, good vibe... five minutes from our house!

The best quality bakery on the North Shore. Good enough to be sold in local shops throughout North Vancouver. Think ancient grains, fresh bread, pastries, granola, and the bakery itself offers the most Delicious lunchtime sandwiches and great kid space for in house consumers. Not bad the it is right next to Munchies, the equally delicious frozen yogurt bar on 2nd and Lonsdale. Only a ten minute walk from our house! Seriously. We live in the Gormet Ghetto of North Vancovuer. :)

Drinks & Nightlife

There is no category for this spot that offers amazing food, European beers and wine. We go here for appetizers and drinks. It is THE local spot close to the Lonsdale Quay area and Shipyards that offers a variety of things for the late night reveller.

You get a feeling for the history of North Vancouver here and there are a couple of museums opening here. Our home was built to help the CN Rail Operator bring the Canadian Pacific rail into North Vancouver from New Westminster. You can get a real sense of how this area was developed from walking the sea wall here and reading the history plaques along the way. GREAT kids park on the water as well as access point to put in recreational water equipment (SUP, kayak, small boats) as well! Be sure to catch the Friday Night Market for music, artisans, kid friendly activities and a beer tent and food truck street food every Friday night! A ten minute walk from our house straight to the water. :)

Parks & Nature

The setting is great for total forest emersion and the peaceful tranquility of being near a river/creek. The forest trails are epic and despite a tourist destination is much less touristed than other North Shore Mountain locations. We love the Lynn Valley Suspension Bridge and Ecology Centre with the kids. There are great watering holes fro swimming with the kids as well in the Summer. There is a wonderful cafe at this site too that offers kid friendly food as needed. The waterfalls and cedar trees are breath taking.

Essentials

This is only a walk away, but if going by car parking is through underground garage and free with purchase. They offer grocery ordering ahead. A great juice bar and brew pub and cafe inside. Whole foods offers great local produce and a selection of salad bar and burrito bar, food bar that is unparalleled in North Vancouver. Look for 365 brand for generic organic food at a lower price point. Open late as well, 10pm, it is my go to after the kids go down. ;)
