If you're maxed out on New Mexican cuisine and are in the mood for some refined southern Indian cuisine, look no farther. These guys do it well and do it right. Sadly they only accept reservations for 6 or more, so you might have to wait.

A bit out of town but a good stop if you’re heading south out of town. Breakfasts are best. They have a lovely patio to sit out during the summer months, and cozy inside during the winter ones. Great margaritas and tostada. If you’re looking for a place to watch the game, they have a bar with a big screen TV.

Spencer and I walk down to the Tea House almost weekly. They have great breakfasts, teas of every kind, and the best chai you’ll ever find … not that sweet stuff you can get at some places. Oh, and get the raspberry almond scone with whipped cream and lemon curd. Even the gluten free ones are great (but not as great) No reservations needed. We don't find their dinners all that inspiring, IMHO. Walk down along the river, have your breakfast and then continue down Canyon Road to browse the galleries.

Another favorite and best deal in town for breakfasts. Anne Laure is the French owner and always present with a smile. Great lattes, quiches, eggs, clafoutis, and of course, beignets. If you’ve had your fill of New Mexican cuisine and are ready for a salad, this is your place. You can find an entrée salad for every taste here. A bit on the pricey side for a salad… we find the Cobb to be one of the better deals. Great mushroom soup too. This is mostly a bar, but you can order dinner ... same food as The Pink Adobe next door. This place just oozes old Santa Fe of by-gone days. Thankfully the management hasn't renovated the place which would remove all the patina. Good margaritas and just a casual take on old Santa Fe.

Beautifully inspired Japanese food that won’t disappoint. Although they do not serve sushi, they do have a ‘tapas’ like menu that is extraordinary and a delight to the taste buds. We often find ourselves going up for a soak in the afternoon and then heading over to the restaurant for their affordable ‘Bento Box’ at lunch. Always delicious and a great deal. Hang out on Lena St after buying your baguette for your picnic.
