Food Scene

One of my favorite places for great food and atmosphere at a surprisingly affordable cost. Great staff as well (I used to work there) - ask for Burke or Adelaide for wine suggestions. Oh and substitute flat bread on the burrata and you will be a happy camper! I wouldn't recommend large groups or kids. HIGHLY recommended to call or book on open table for reservations. They book out fast, but very willing to make it work if you call that day - walk ins are tough.

AMAZING thai food. So so so good. No reservations, so go in ahead of time especially if you have a group bigger than 4 people. It is a small intimate restaurant so there can be wait times, but the food comes out fast and is so worth the wait.

The Stanley Bakery is always a hit! About an hour drive north of town (up and over the Galena pass) is Stanley, Idaho. A tiny town with beautiful views in every direction. The bakery is only open at certain times of the year so check their website before you go. The earlier the better! Great for breakfast after a night camping in Stanley or at Redfish Lake.

Great sushi! Their rolls are all fun and yummy! I recommend Maguro Bites, The Hailey, The Stop Drop and Roll, and The South Valley.

Friend's of mine from high school started this and they have the BEST coffee in town! Jacob and Tara are the owners - Jacob runs the coffee, Tara runs the clothing. Quaint, local, excellent brew.

The most "Idaho" restaurant experience in Ketchum. The Pio is a fun atmosphere and is always full with locals. The portions are huge, the food is good, and the vibe is fun. It is definitely not vegan friendly. There is always a wait, so get your name down early!

They don't always have a large selection of produce, but what they have is always fresh, organic, and usually local. Great for health nuts, and those with food allergies or sensitivities. They also have tons of supplements, and vitamins. If anybody in the group comes down with a cold I highly recommend a visit to Nourish Me.

The easiest hiking train to get to in town, but not for the faint hearted - it can be pretty steep in spots. But, the view is worth it! You get to see baldy from the East side of town and it is gorgeous! This trail can be hiked during winter as well depending on the conditions.

My all time favorite place to go in the summer. If you can go on a week day you will miss the crowds, but if not it is still so beautiful to spend an entire day just taking in the fresh air. You can rent all types of boats and paddle boards, or just chill on the beach. There is a great hiking trail on the other side of the lake which you can get to by boat (either rented or you can take the shuttle). You can sometimes access Redfish in the winter, and the view is UNREAL. It is crazy pretty in wintertime.

If you drive out Warm Springs about 15 minutes you will hit the dirt road (or in winter the last houses), drive another 10 or so and you will find the hot springs. They are a natural hot spring right off the river - you should be able to see the steam coming off the water. Great to soak in after a long day of powder skiing or hiking. Apparently the water is great for the skin and good for the soul.

A pretty easy hike for a great view! about 20 minutes north of Ketchum, turn left into Baker Creek. It can be a bit hard to find the trail head so pay attention! It 3.5 miles out and back, so pretty easy and kid friendly.

Sightseeing

Galena Summit - it doesn't get much better than this! About a 30-45 minute drive north of Ketchum, after driving on the winding uphill road, you will reach the top of Galena pass and the view is breathtaking! If you keep driving north you will get to Stanley - a tiny town with crazy views.

You can take the Gondola up to Roundhouse or if you up for it (or can't afford the lift ticket) you can hike up. I love to hike up to Roundhouse, take in the view, get a refreshment, and take the lift down. A great workout and free lift to the bottom!

If you have time for a day trip south, you can visit the Shoshone Ice Caves. Pretty cool - recommended for kids.

The hot springs are all natural and have been piped into a man-made tub that is large enough to seat several friendly individuals. The tub sits within a small log building that is situated on the banks of Valley Creek, a short walk from the Lodge. Inside the building, you’ll find small changing rooms and a few spots to sit, as well as a large door which can be propped open to allow in the fresh mountain air and unparalleled views. Make sure to reserve your time with the front desk upon your arrival. (I would call ahead before you drive up there!)
