Pótkulcs is one of our favourite places. It is a bit hidden, less touristy than other bars, and often has live music on weekdays too. Great grill food in the summer and a nice yard. :)

A smaller, more local ruin pub, one of our favourites. Check out the opening times, they are not open all year around and they are closed on Sundays. Try their 'pogácsas' they are great!!! ( Savoury scones with cheese topping, a Hungarian snack). Live music.

Parks & Nature

Margit Island is one of my favourite spots in Budapest, I go there regularly to swim or for a run, but we also often do a picnic or just take a blanket and play games in the park. It is ideal for anyone who likes parks!

City park is only a 15 minute walk away, but you can also take the metro or a trolleybus if you prefer. It is a huge park, it hosts our most popular baths called Széchényi, our permanent circus, the zoo, Heroes Square, The Museum of Fine Arts, and a pond where you can take a boat ride in the summer or ice skate in the winter. There is also some good food options :)

It is a 25 minute walk up hill... but is is well worth it! The best views of the city from just below the Citadell. Especially recommended at night when the city is all lit up. :)

Getting Around

Tram 4 or 6 is one of the most important means of transport in Budapest as it works 24/7. It goes along the ringroad. Wesselényi utca and Király utca stops are 5 minutes away fro our flat. It can come really handy both during the day and at night!

The nearest metro stop on the yellow line (number 1). This takes you to Széchényi Baths, to the Operahouse or to the very very touristy pedestrian street Váci utca. All these places are at a walking distance, around 20 minutes, so you only need the metro if it is raining or you are tired! It is the easiest stop when coming to our place. :)
