Drinks & Nightlife

For post-beach drinks for sunset. Beautiful views over the lagoon and in spring a great spot to watch the kite surfers. They have a simple lunch menu with wraps and tostas but we mostly go here for drinks or ice-creams.

Great place to go to the beach and have a walk through the village. You can take the funicular to the higher part of the village for great views. In the winter this is where you can see the biggest waves ever surfed! It's touristy but it's also nice to see the old people in traditional clothes drying fish in the traditional way.

It's a beautiful bay. You can do a great walk here from the lighthouse on the northern point, all along the beach front to the roman ruins on the southern point. This is also a calm bay to do open-water swims and a good place to test your leg muscles by running up the dune.

Sightseeing

Obidos is a lovely medieval castle. It gets busy during the day but if you go early-ish it's very nice. You can walk over the old wall all around the village for great views. During July and the first week of August they host the medieval festival which is definitely worth going to.

Shopping

The morning market on the fruit square is great (and cheap) for all fresh local produce. It's mostly food, including bread, cheeses, olives, nuts and flowers but they also sell baskets and other locally made things.

We mostly go here because it's the closest one to our house. It's opposite Aldi and between these two shops and the market we can get everything we need.
