You don't have to be gay to love Hillcrest, but it helps! Lots of good breakfast places, the odd bar or four, a good movie theater (Landmark Hillcrest) and people watching for days. Bread et Cie bakery is a personal favorite for breakfast/brunch or tea. Some of the best bagels in town at BCB Hillcrest. A very crowded Trader Joe's market and a cool ACE Hardware store. Traffic sucks - take a rideshare - adjacent to Balboa Park.

Adjacent to Mission Beach, Pacific Beach (PB) is well known for its college students, bars/clubs/hangouts and tons of scooters which drive drivers crazy. If drinking is your thing, you'll find it on Garnet Avenue, everything from The Local Pub to the cavernous 3 story Mavericks, to Moonshine Beach for your country music needs. Do us all a favor, don't try to drive/park there - take a rideshare or bike or walk. Farmers Market is excellent on Tuesday, year round, from 2-7 on Bayard Street between Grand/Garnet. Lots of eatieries - some of our favorites are listed under "Food Scene".
