Food Scene

This place is a must-do. Awesome spot for any meal of the day, but really shines during it's weekend brunch, esp sunday afternoons (fantastic, low-key live music). Make a reservation as far in advance as possible. Their beer garden is also a great place to spend a sunny afternoon. Family friendly

Japanese fusion. Awesome drinks, incredible sushi, and hands-down the best steak in the city. Place typically moves at a slower pace, so best to make sure you're not in any rush if going there. Always a great meal.

Great atmosphere, excellent food/drinks, and real lively and fun on weekends. Not exactly the place for quiet date, but definitely the spot to start a night out.

Great food with a relaxed vibe, right in the heart of downtown, run by the city's top chef Jeremy Charles (also owner of Raymond's restaurant, routinely voted one the top restaurants in North America). Great choice for dinner or for brunch (or lunch for that matter)

Probably the best hidden gem in St. John's. Nothing fancy, just absolutely fantastic Indian food for a very reasonable price. Good take-out option, although hours are limited, so maybe best to call ahead. Highly recommended.

Actually not the Tea Room itself, but their outdoor Courtyard (just to the side of the main restaurant). Serves food, but really shines as the best spot in the city to grab some drinks on a sunny day. Closes sometime around 10-11pm

Not their main bar on George Street (although that's usually busy with live celtic music, if that's your scene) but their rooftop patio. Access is through the alley way and up the stairs on the side.
