Our kids love HJ's so had to put it on here!!! Not great for dinning in but OK for a drive by. On some evenings it can be not-so-fast-food but we eat at about 6ish so it's not usually a problem for us.

Parks & Nature

With a 10min drive to the beach Bushland Beach is always a great place to take the family. Go for a stroll on the beach during low tide especially on sunset and soak up the serenity. With an enclosed naturally shady playground it's a fun outing for the young as well. Get some takeaway on the way at Deeragun and enjoy an evening out by the seaside. After rainy periods the mosquitoes can come out during nightfall but if you're prepared with repellent they won't bother you.

A 35 min drive north on the Bruce Highway you can explore the rain forest, bush walk in the stunning green wilderness, take a dip in many of the waterholes and springs along the way or picnic on the rocks by a waterfall! A fun freshwater swimming hole that can be enjoyed all day.

Walk, ride or 4WD beside Black River at the western end of Jensen Rd. Once on the 4WD track to the left take the first access point (80m) down to the river. It's a great place to go for a stroll or in the wet season have a splash in the flowing freshwater of Black River. Our kids love playing in the shallow freshwater and exploring the river bed for hours on end if we let them. If you like exploring keep going and you'll come out at the end of Annaville Rd but the 4WD won't fit through the trees at the end.

Beautiful ocean views along well maintained boardwalks. An iconic landmark in Townsville and a must see. If you visit in summer do the walk ways when the sun is down as will be unpleasant in the heat of the sun.

‘Maggie’, as the locals call the island, is home to the much sought-after gentle waves lapping on palm-lined beaches. The majority of the island is national park, with several small settlements squeezed between the rocky, vegetated hills and the beaches. The ferry ride from Townsville is only 20 minutes, but a visit to Magnetic Island will make you feel as though you’re miles from anywhere.
