This cafe is right at the beginning of the Cliff Walk in Kilkee. When you come to the roundabout from Carrigholt to the Kilkee, you take a sharp left and follow the road up and around and you will end up at the Diamond Rocks Cafe. Nice place to have a coffee or sandwich before you take a walk or go down onto the rocks below and explore the rock pools, Pollock Holes etc. Also does breakfast.

Sightseeing

When you're staying so close this is a place you must visit. Even if you don't go into the Lighthouse, just a walk around the edge of the cliffs there is fabulous. You may see some bottlenose dolphins and there's even little inlets that when the sun is shining, each time the waves come in, a rainbow is created - it's magic!

The Pollock Holes in Kilkee are an amazing phenomenon - essentially 3 very deep rock pools that get exposed when the tide is out, where people can swim, dive etc. The water is warmer in these Holes than in the sea. They're also surrounded by small rock pools and lots to explore on the rocks (which are mostly flat). You are standing beside the Atlantic Ocean, looking out at the waves hitting the cliff edges and in this little oasis. A must do experience. To get there, when you get to the roundabout in Kilkee from Carrigaholt, take a sharp left and follow the road up till you get to the Diamond Rocks Cafe car park and you'll see them there in front of you (if the tide is out of course!).

There are three supermarkets in Kilrush - Tesco (the biggest), Aldi and Supervalu. You should be able to get all you need there.

Parks & Nature

This is a lovely place to visit. There's a beautiful walled garden, with a small maze, a fairyhouse tree, small garden centre and little coffee shop where you can have a snack, sandwiches or a full lunch. There is also woods along the driveway that you can walk and explore.

If you have the time to go across on the ferry to Kerry and down to Killarney, you absolutely have to drive through the Gap of Dunloe or you can even take a ride in a Pony and Trap and take in the views. This is probably one of the most beautiful places we've seen, the views are just stunning.

Drinks & Nightlife

This is a nice little pub for a drink, particularly if you're waiting for a table in The Long Dock next door. They'll come and get you when the table is free and if you're not finished your drinks, Carmodys let you take them with you and the staff in the Long Dock return the glasses to them afterwards. You don't see that everywhere eh?

Nice place to eat in the nearest Pub to New York. You're right on the waters edge in Kilbaha. Food is lovely and reasonably priced, atmosphere is good and they regularly have bands playing there.

Getting Around

It is only a short 20 minute trip to Kerry on the Shannon Ferries Kilimer to Tarbert Ferry. You drive into Kilrush and another 8km on to Killimer. Ferries about every 30 minutes in the summer and it's a great way to get across to Kerry. You're then only about an hour or so from Killarney, Gap of Dunloe etc.
