Food Scene

OUR FAVOURITE IN MIRISSA! Really Delicious and well priced food on the beach. They do a really good carbonara, pasta diablo with prawns, chicken schnitzel, Grilled chicken, and fresh seafood. A lot of the restaurants on the beach can be hit and miss. This place has a proper kitchen with trained chefs. We eat here most nights of the week! Check the front board for happy hour specials, most nights it is 300 rupees for a mojito!

This place is really nice in the afternoon for a drink since it overlooks the main surf point. I haven't tasted a lot from their menu however I know after a lot of experience they have the best batter fried calamari on the beach!

Zephyr is a little bit more upmarket which means a slightly higher price however we really recommend it if you're looking for something a bit more special. Their food is really good and they offer a different menu to the rest of the beach. They do not offer happy hour cocktails however so you can grab drinks somewhere else before hand!

This is a small unpretentious road side stand where you can get great local food. Specifically their egg hoppers are some of the best I've tried in sri lanka and are generally available freshly cooked after 4 pm.

This offers great local food during the evening in a nice setting. A little bit more expensive than the roadside stands but good if you want a more relaxed, clean and less spicy introduction to sri lankan food!

This is a small locally owned restaurant on a cliff top overlooking weligama bay. It is about a 15 minute tuk tuk drive however well worth it in our experience. I'd highly recommend coming here early in the evening so you can experience the view and also before the rush so you can actually get a table! It is a tiny restaurant yet no1 on trip advisor in weligama so it gets extremely busy. Either book, or arrive at 4-5pm and enjoy the sunset. We can highly recommend Vegetable Pakoda for a starter, the chicken massaman, or the prwans as a main and definitely try his lime soda its to die for! They don't serve alcohol however you can bring your own which is good.

Drinks & Nightlife

We can highly recommend the doctors house which is about 15 minutes by tuk tuk. They have amazing wood fire pizzas in an open yard which is beautiful at sunset. They often do live music and market events on weekends so check their Facebook to see if you can catch one of them!

Beautiful secluded beach good for swimming. Most people refer to it as "Jungle Beach Weligama" in the village of Kapparathota, about a 15 minute tuk tuk drive away. You can visit this beach and after visit chef akilas which is only 2 minutes away for an early dinner and to watch the sunset!

About an hour- an hour and a half tuk tuk drive away is Hirikiteya beach. Hands down the most beautiful beach in Sri Lanka in our opinion a definite must see. You can stop here on the way to or from ella. It is a small town so theres no need to spend a lot of time here, one night is sufficient if you need to!
