Demelza is a stone's throw from Porthmellon beach and a short walk from Hugh Town's shops. We offer a spacious guest room with king-size bed and en-suite bathroom. Guests have the use of a private lounge which can sleep two people on a double sofabed and/or floor mattress. There's also a TV and even a piano! Please note: Demelza is located up a short but fairly steep hill and is home to Lou & Steve, our son Arthur, Lou's mum Linda, our cat Zola and (from February) a new puppy, Bluebell.
“Louise and steve are grest hosts. Louise emailed a few weeks pre stay asking us brekkie choices - colour of bread and types of milk ! That attention to details followed through - tea tray / details instructions in welcome pack, flexibility for check in times and bag pick up / drop off. We had two rooms, two beds. The main bedroom is a large double with split matress, and en suite sbower cubicle. Second room was sofa bed with thick matress on it. Wifi / netflix all great. Brekkie options, cereal, toast, juice, posh coffee and tea and fruit bowl. Nb - if you want self catering, this is not your venue . There isn't really a view or sundowner spot here, but close to 'the beach restaurant ' and not a bad walk to juliettes garden, if town boring you! Great clean, comfy and kind place to stay.”
The Backpackers Cabin is designed for the solo traveller looking for a base from which to explore the unique islands of Scilly. The compact wooden cabin provides all you need - bed, shower, kitchen facilities and wifi - leaving you free to wander. The cabin is just a five minute walk from the beach and quay from where boats depart daily to the other islands. Hire a kayak to paddle to the uninhabited islands; go snorkling with the seals; go wild swimming. Bookings Sat-Sat
“Cute, comfy cabin close to higher town quay. The cafe is very good and would recommend booking a table in the bistro. Cosmos observatory also worth a visit (check the website for opening and I think also need to book), and seal snorkelling trips / kayak hire run from the beach. Also advisable to pre order groceries from the island shop who are very friendly and helpful. Overall a very pleasant stay.”
