“The hosts, a lovely couple, were hostess of the mostess throughout our 2D 1N stay. My family and I had some trouble getting to the venue, but Ratna was quick and helpful to arrange transportation with the locals to her place. We had requested for food arrangements prior arriving and were not disappointed! Each meal was humble and delicious with local touches. The bedrooms were clean, the team at the stay friendly and warm, activities were organised for visitors (e.g. a morning walk to a nearby dusun, sauna sessions in the world’s first pizza oven-sauna). Ratna herself gave us a ride (at a small fee) to the ferry docks, but had on her own accord, gave us a tour of some parts of the island, shared with us her life & knowledge, brought us to Miken’s eatery, and to have some local durians at a roadside stall. We fell in love with the entire experience. Fingers crossed - we will be back!”
Located in the quite area of Tuk-Tuk, in the middle of Tuk-Tuk and Ambarita. Having stunning views both to the lake and mountains. You can relax in the garden with hammocks and sunbeds directly by the lake enjoying also swimming.
“Very peaceful place to stay right on Lake Toba. You can go for a swim and enjoy the beautiful view without any distractions. The place is a bit old and worn out but still good enough. The owners were super friendly and helpful with everything and giving tips on what to do and where to go. Motorbike is an essential to get around the island. The place is a bit out of the town of Tuk Tuk but only a few minutes away with the motorbike. Good place to stay for a cheap price!”

“Horas Family Home made our stay at Lake Toba extremely memorable and enjoyable! I brought my family of 7 pax there, and they were all very impressed by the hospitality and service of Horas Family Home. The description and pictures given in the listing was very accurate and true. The house was big, cosy and clean with a gorgeous view. Food was fantastic, cheap and tasty, generous servings, and absolutely terrific! Kayak and family boat was free to use, fishing rods were working and the bait was free too! Moreover, the animals (rabbits and dogs) living with them are happy and healthy, which made the stay so much more interesting. I enjoyed feeding the rabbits every morning. We even had the chance to hold 2 new born rabbits, one black and one white! Berend and Mian (owner of Horas) were extremely helpful in planning the activities for us and gave very useful information and directions for us to follow. They delivered whatever they promised, and were very thoughtful and attentive to our needs. Everything we did at Lake Toba was arranged by them, and because of their advice and recommendations, we got the best service/staff/experience/quality for everything we did there, which then made the trip extremely worth it and value-for-money. Lastly, Horas Family Home Fish BBQ Dinner is a MUST-TRY! Horas Family Home keeps their standard high regardless, and ensures that their guests are satisfied and happy. After my 4 days of stay there, I can safely say that Horas Family Home is definitely the best place to be in if you are at Lake Toba. I would definitely choose Horas Family Home again if I visit Lake Toba again, and I highly recommend this place to all. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Thank you Berend and Mian! :)”
