Mary is an excellent host. She responded in minutes, often in real time to any questions we had. She always had wonderful suggestions, and her knowledge of Lake Attilan’s villages is superb. We really appreciated her help. The house is a bird lovers dream. A large tree on the side of the huge picture windows is a bird magnet and we loved getting up early to watch and listen. When I sent her a picture of a bird, she responded with pictures of possible birds from a book, immediately. The view is fabulous! The house is tidy, clean and well supplied. San Marcos is such a chill place to stay. The stroll down to the boats is a pleasure and we enjoyed it immensely. This is a place we could return to easily.

This place was PERFECTO!! Augustus wins the gold star award for being a great host. The place was perfect… a short walk to the new pier to catch a ferry to other villages, a beach walk to several restaurants- (El Dragon- was our favorite) - a short walk to the middle of the town - with lots of good restaurants, shopping and coffee shops. Claudia made us a lovely breakfast one morning with mint/lavender tea from the garden. The view each morning was wonderful… hot coffee in hand we soaked it up! … it really couldn’t get much better! Last night we used the adorable sauna.. thank you! It was just the perfect end to our day. Augustus was always available to help, give us ideas and recommendations! He booked us taxis and massage appointments. He was absolutely wonderful! I would definitely stay here again.

We had a beautiful stay at Casa Paloma. The pictures truly do resemble the gorgeous location and it was a bit of peace we needed. The amenities such as the yoga platform, sauna & private dock were great. We also LOVED the food for breakfast and dinner and would recommend utilizing that. I will say we encountered some scorpions but that's a part of it! We felt lucky to wake up with that view everyday :)

This place exceeded our expectations, it was even more beautiful than the photos! The living space is spacious and breathtaking, with a stunning yard that offers an unobstructed view of the volcano. The kitchen was fantastic, and we loved spending our evenings cooking dinner and grilling on the barbecue. Every night, we used the temazcal (like a sauna), which made our stay even more special. Lesley and the groundskeeper were incredibly responsive, kind, and made us feel right at home. Lesley also shared local recommendations and kept us informed about daily events in San Marcos. An unforgettable stay, we wish we could have stayed longer!

The house, the lake, the views, the staff…all absolutely incredible! The house is ideally located within 5-10 mins walking or quick tuk tuk to San Marcos, and equipped with everything you need - pool, hottub, kayaks, loads of cooking supplies, more than enough towels etc. The rooms were huge, beds comfy and the caretakers available to help with anything and everything. The hosts were super responsive and the chef for hire cooked amazing meals. San Marcos has the cleanest water for swimming, and the national park with cliffs to jump or swim from is just a short walk or kayak away. The entire stay, just like the lake, was magical for our family of 5 (2 adults, 9 yo, two 7 yos) and not one we will ever forget!

The house is very beautiful. A lovely design and filled with beautiful touches and artwork. An amazing view off the veranda, and the gardens are relaxing and full of birds. We all enjoyed the clean pool very much too. Overall it was an amazing place to relax and recharge. There is a walk up to the local village of Santa Clara or tuk tuks to take you up the hill, and the village has a produce market on Saturdays. We also recommend CECAP for great meals with the best view, as well as fair trade traditional handicrafts. It was easy to get a boat at the public dock. It’s probably easiest to arrange your own driver and boat to the private dock as then it’s easy to contact them if they do not turn up or know where to go (problems we had through no fault of the host). Definitely shop in Pana as the shops are very small in Santa Clara. Be aware it was hazy every day for 6 days and apparently this is common in April (or other months too?) because of cane burning. This was a beautiful spot! the view really was incredible. The place was clean and well equipped, and the staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. as a few other reviews said, there is a restaurant next door that played loud music in the evening, but it was always over by 9:30pm so it didn't affect our sleep.

We really loved staying here. The place feels more like a cabin; it's not too big but super cozy. And the view from the balcony to the beautiful garden and the lake was the best part. Gerson the host would go above and beyond to make our staying comfortable, he's also just a nice pal to chat with about the local life. Probably the only noticeable flaw of our experience was the construction happening at a neighboring plot, which can be loud sometimes. But this will be completed some day, so if you bother about that, worth asking the current state in advance. Overall it's a really unique and great price/quality offer, and we would definitely love to come back some day.
