“Our stay at Col and Cillas unit was above and beyond expectations. Communication beforehand was great, the place is more spacious than expected, and the place has character, which is something you can't ever expect from a hotel room. On a 42 degree day, the aircon was running when we arrived. Every little thing was thought about. We would have loved to meet our hosts, but had such busy itinerary that we didn't get the chance. They are very respectful of your privacy. Thanks again! We hope to be back, next time we'll be in Perth.”
The moment you open the door to this brand new funky loft apartment you know you are somewhere very special. Expertly designed and constructed by its owner and full of industrial eye catching details. You'll wake up wondering if you are in Paris, New York or Subiaco. Once you open the slatted French doors with its views across the leafy rooftops of Subiaco and smell the coffee from the nearby cafés, you'll remember you are a stone's throw from King's Park.
“100% recommend. Gorgeous neighbourhood - quiet, pretty, plenty of street parking (normally limited to 2 hours but permit was provided with the apartment for unlimited parking). We didn't have time to check out the cafe/bakery strip on the corner but wish we had, it looked lovely and full of locals. Would be a very pleasant walk to King's Park (was a bit sunny for us, so drove, though felt rather lazy doing so!). Apartment is like an expanded studio: bathroom and laundry are downstairs, then upstairs is a studio-style bedroom-kitchen-dining. Wasn't there long enough to use the laundry but it was bigger than I expected, would be great if staying longer. Clean, modern bathroom, big walk in shower. Upstairs was spacious for two, comfy, with relaxed sort of Parisian-chic style. Full length mirror with side table, dining table with I think four seats (and another couple around), big TV, king-size bed. All super clean. Split shutters for control over light and see-in/out. Air-con and fan. Kitchen has fridge, freezer-shelf, microwave, toaster, pod coffee machine, sink, some bench space - and as promised, stocked with milk, cereal, croissants, butter and jam, which was really nice on arrival (also a bar of Lindt chocolate!). Wash-up of crockery and cutlery by guest is required at end of stay (as it often is at airbnbs), and my sense was that it's perhaps not checked or repeated by cleaning staff, as some plates were less immaculate compared to the very high standard of cleaning in the rest of the apartment. Didn't bother me as easy enough to clean before use, but only issue in otherwise spotlessly clean place. Check-in/out easy and contactless - host texted keysafe combo and we were able to get in with no trouble (or guilt!) in the middle of the night after late arrival. Access is a cute laneway off the street. Stairs inside are nice and wide so easy to carry luggage. Only issue we had in our stay was that the internet was down; we didn't try to use until late on the last night, and I'm sure the host would likely have managed to fix if we'd realised sooner and told her. Room was definitely set up as though internet normally works (network and password in book, etc), so I wouldn't worry about this at all unless it continues through other reviews! All in all, beautiful, comfortable apartment in a great location - highly recommend.”
Character house, well located on a quiet road near to shops and public transport. It is a short two minute walk to some great cafes, patisseries and restaurants,. There is also a supermarket nearby (10 min walk). Bus stops to the city and to UWA are at the end of the street and its about a ten minute walk to the train station linking you to the city, Fremantle and the pick of the best beaches in Perth including Cottesloe beach. Kings Park is also close by to explore.
“This is the second time I have stayed at Wayne's place. It means that I looked forward to repeating the first-rate experience I enjoyed last time. And, as it turned out, of course I did. Wayne has this hospitality thing 'down'. He's runs a tight ship; he's friendly; he's kind; and he's an easy man to get along with. You're not short of whatever you need at this 'character house in a great location'. One thing that is a great convenience to me: I usually prefer to drive when in Perth and (being 4,000 kms from home), need, therefore, to hire a car. Expensive! I've looked at the maths - the cost/convenience matrix - and it turns out the the public transport availability and price is so good that a car is just not needed. As I wrote in my last review, "I'll be back!"”
