Your accommodation has a Mediterranean look, surrounded by a tree-rich, mostly indigenous garden which was developed organically by me since 2005. The view to the sunny north features Storms River Peak with a strip of Fynbos which consist of small scrubby plants, Erica, Proteas and Restio reeds. Take a 2 km walk along the old Port Elizabeth road to the cool leafy Plaatbos indigenous forest. You will pass the Segway centre, some eateries, a craft beer brewery and the canopy tour company.
“Nice room in the middle of a huge beautiful garden! Estelle was a great host who did everything possible to make us feel home. She let us use her bbq grill and all the utensils from her personal kitchen. We felt very welcome and enjoyed our stay. She perfectly managed the balance between privacy and hospitality. We would revisit her anytime when near the garden route!”
Storms River Village, situated only 11km from the Tsitsikamma National Park, is the adventure capital of Tsitsikamma and forms part of SA’s famous Garden Route. The unique, self-catering Tin House is situated in the garden of a private residence with remote control gate access. A stay of at least two nights is recommended, as there is so much to see and do in the area. Perfect for a couple, a small family, or a group of friends. Free WiFi. For more information, see the captions to the photos.
“The tin house is build by Watty, one of the kindest hosts we've ever had. It's a beautiful cosy living room where there is a small fireplace to lit up when it gets cold and a very big bathroom. The bedroom is isolated and we slept pretty well in the comfortable bed. There's a beautiful garden and we enjoyed the homegrown passiefruit and plums:) The tin house is one of the most authentic places we've ever been. We absolutely had the best experience unless it was raining during our whole stay.”
This vintage forest cabin is perched above our pristine mountain stream, set amidst a highly diverse indigenous botanical forest wetland. The cabin is entirely private with a large deck and extensive views of both mountain peaks. Hand built by owner over a period of two years, with hardwood floors throughout, hand waxed with beeswaxpolish from our own hives. Guests enjoy their own private access along their secluded forest path. A vintage Nestor Martin canon style wood stove will restore you.
“The stay in this cottage is a once in a lifetime eyperience you will never forget. Robert build it all by himself and it has so many little details thought through. The outside shower was wonderful and the meat that Robert prepared for our BBQ was super delicious. Although the cottage is situated in between the lush vegetation you wont have too many mosquitos. Robert is the most friendly host and puts his whole heart in the Garden and will make your stay unforgettable. Every morning he brought us fresh food and gave us Tipps to explore not only the plants and fruits in the Garden but the whole area. George played so adorable with our kids and is already also a super host. Thank you guys. You are awesome!”
