Founded in 1957, my grandfather, Eiichi Tanuchi, ran an inn called Aiwasho for the cultural development of Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture. In order to continue to protect its history and traditions, his granddaughter, Kiushuko, reopened the inn under its original name in 2021. Built on the site of Ueno Castle, this inn is a traditional Japanese house with tatami mats on the floor. Please relax in one of the two Japanese-style rooms. The inn is located on a hill overlooking the city of Tanabe, so you can enjoy the morning sun, sunset, and night view. On a calm day, we recommend having tea in a wicker chair on the edge of the hinoki cypress wooden deck, which was made in the image of the moon viewing platform of the Katsura Imperial Villa. The newly installed bath and toilet are spacious and barrier-free, so you can bathe together or use them easily even if you need assistance. We installed popin.aladdin (lighting with projector) in one of the Japanese-style rooms. It projects on the sliding doors You can watch TV, music, movies, etc. Enjoy BGM on YouTube before you go out in the morning. My parents, Kisaku and Shuko Tanai (Japanese), live next to the house, so please let me know if you need anything.

Tenjinzaki is an inn within a 15-minute walk to Tenjinzaki, which is called Uyuni Salt Lake in Wakayama. Although it is also famous for its haunted fishing spots, Tenjinzaki is famous for the beautiful reflection of the water accumulated in the rocky reef, making it a view like Uyuni Salt Lake. It's a popular place to take beautiful photos. It has also been selected as the "100 Sunsets and Sunsets in Wakayama Prefecture" by the Wakayama Prefecture Tourism Federation, and the sunset over the offshore is very beautiful. The inn is a container house. It is a very compact inn. This is a private guest house for one group per day. Check-out is at 9:00 am the next morning. The one unit is in the living room.The other building is a bedroom and a toilet. The bed is a bunk bed. It is compact, so it is not suitable for large people or people with disabilities. In order to provide a cheap accommodation fee, we also use reuse furniture, so there will be some dirt, etc.Please understand. Surrounded by woods, the sound of birds during the day.There is also a deer crowing at night. Get away from it all and spend time under the stars in the garden. The location is in front of the Takatsubashi bus stop and has excellent access. You can take a bus from the accommodation to Hongu Taisha, Kawayu Onsen, Yunomine Onsen, and Shingu Station. There is no bath, but there is a shower room. If you want to take a bath, you can also go to the nearby Kawayu Onsen. The basic plan is a no meal stay. * Meals such as curry rice and beef bowls are possible with a separate fee.　 * It is also possible to pick up and drop off (1,000 yen per time in Hongu Town) and shipping luggage for a separate fee.

Guest House Agae is a renovated traditional house that can only accommodate one group at a time. It is in a very convenient location, about 550 m (about 7 minutes on foot) to Kumano Kodo and Kinkou Oji, a supermarket (A-COOP), a bus stop (Kodo Aruki no Sato Chikatsuyu), and restaurants (Shoji Teahouse and Tororo-ya). The owner is a local Kumano Kodo guide, so we will do our best to accommodate your questions and advice about walking the Kumano Kodo, as well as pick-up and drop-off when you need it. The entire house is rented to only one group at a time (the price will be added depending on the number of people). It can accommodate up to 8 people in a 16-tatami mat (2 rooms with 8 tatami mats each) living room and bedroom and a 6-tatami mat bedroom. Fully equipped with a bath, toilet, washing machine, kitchen, and fridge. Face and bath towels are included. Free WiFi. The room is on the second floor, and it is difficult for the neighbors to hear sound, so it is a perfect house for families with small children or those who want to spend time quietly. The area around the house is quiet with little traffic and few pedestrians.

"Genki House", a house near Kumano Hongu-Taisha

It’s a house 8km from the Hongu Taisha. (about 15 minutes' drive) If you have a car it's more convenient, but if not I'll be happy to drive you to and from a bus stop or a tourism spot in Hongu area. My family run an organic farm, bakery, NPO offering long-stay for the youth, and an alternative school for children nearby. You'll have some loaves of bread from our bakery(^^)/ （If you don't eat bread please let me know beforehand)
