Why locals recommend it
Unlike its posher sister locations, this spot has an urban cantina vibe with big, rough, communal tables. There’s a graffiti wall mixed into the south-of-the-border decor. The short rib pastrami taco with pickled cabbage and mustard seed salsa is the mash-up of Jewish and Mexican cuisine you didn’t know you were missing out on. All five of their creative margaritas are excellent, but my favorite is the Spicy Cucumber with Pueblo Viejo Blanco, fresh cucumber, jalapeño tincture, and chile salt.
Tips from locals
get their whiskey with ginger beer cocktail, so good. space is nice and not so loud as other spots. they also have tacos.
Delicious tacos, outstanding sauces, and remarkably tasty tequila-based cocktails. Gets crowded (and a little douchey) during happy hour, so go early/late to avoid the popped-collar set.
Great tacos. Make sure you try the Al Pastor taco. Located right across the street.
