In Pyrgos village of Tinos,a small thematic museum, where the marble technology is presented.Tinos is the most important modern Greek marble center. The small but extraordinary aesthetic and contemporary concept of this Marble Craft Museum comes to highlight and depict the social and economic context in which the local marble workshops were developed, while being a small but precious jewel for the island. Visitor has the opportunity to get acquainted with the traditional techniques and procedures related to the extraction, first processing and transportation of the marble, then the shaping and placement of the construction. It tracks the entire path from raw material to complete work! Amazing

The museum presents the technology of marble, a material with a particular place in the architecture and art of Greece, from ancient times to the present. At the same time, the intricate meshing of tools and techniques is described in detail. The permanent exhibition comprises a variety of original works in marble: mundane, ecclesiastical, funerary and everyday objects, clay models and plaster-of-Paris copies, as well as quarrying, cutting and carving tools, mechanical equipment, archival material and the richest collection of sketches of old marble carvings of the whole of Greece.

Tinos’s Museum of Marble Crafts houses an impressive collection of authentic artifacts such as secular, ecclesiastical, funerary and everyday objects made of marble (door lintels, fountains, family crests, corbels, shrines, mortars and more). This collection is further enriched by plaster of paris and clay copies of key works, as well as a rich collection of original sketches by master craftsmen (the richest collection in Greece).
