This is my personal pick for a local beach spot, although it's farther away than Frenchman's Bar (about 20-25 minutes). Free parking available.

Yes, there’s a beach in Washougal! Great views of the Columbia. On warmer days, jump right in and go for a swim. 10-minute drive.

This is the perfect beach setting on the Columbia River with covered picnic areas and restroom facilities. It's a nice sandy beach with plenty of spots to relax on the river for the entire day and even use one of the barbecue pits later in the evening.
