This rough fortification from 1880 is part of the Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie -1815-1940-, an important line of defense in Dutch history. 46 forts over a length of 85 km between Muiden and the Biesbosch guarded and if necessary the polders inundated to a height of 40 centimeters so that the enemy with horses and vehicles could barely push through. Marcel likes to take you through his "polders" where he tells beautiful exciting stories with a pole in his hand on clogs. Book a tour with Marcel? Then look at polderwachter.nl.
