Possibly one of the prettiest villages in England. Only 15 minutes away by car so definately worth a visit. And the trout farms a great few hours with the children.
The village of Bibury was referred to as the “most beautiful village in England” by William Morris and is well worth a visit. Bibury Trout Farm is one of Britain’s oldest, and most attractive, trout farms. Founded in 1902, by the famous naturalist Arthur Severn to stock the local rivers and streams with the native Brown Trout, it now covers 15 acres in one of the most beautiful valleys in the Cotswolds, the Coln Valley. The crystal clear waters of the Bibury spring provides the essential pure water required to run the hatchery, which spawns up to 6 million trout ova every year. On site is a fish shop stocking a wonderful range of wines, deli. products and preserves as well as quality breads, etc, and of course trout products including smoked and fresh trout. For the more adventurous, you can catch your supper and they have a BBQ area where you can cook it too!

William Morris once described it as “the most beautiful village in the Cotswolds”. Known for its honey-coloured seventeenth century stone cottages with steeply pitched roofs, it’s not hard to understand why Bibury has been the back drop to many Hollywood films.
Bibury is another destination village. It is famously pretty with the river Coln running through it which also supplies fresh clean water to The Trout Farm which is open to visitors and has a café. You can take children there and fish for trout and then bring them back to the Cottage and cook them. Several parties of guests have said this was a really good experience.
