The capital of Morbihan, this large town is well worth the 1 hour drive to stroll around the harbour and have a meal at the many restaurants. Remember to say good morning to Vannes & his wife carved into the side of the old building as is tradition!
Lovely walks along the marina and beautiful old town with plenty of restaurants. Strongly recommended
Medieval walled town with port. Lovely to visit especially on market day, Wednesday or Saturday, when the streets are closed off and full of food and flower stalls. Have a drink in one of the cafes near the port and watch the world go by, or take a walk around the walls, and see the old washing…
Overlooking the Gulf of Morbihan, Vannes is one of Brittany's medieval walled towns. Cobbled streets lead down to the bars and restaurants of the marina.
The beautiful medieval town of Vannes has much to offer. The wonderful architecture, stunning gardens, markets, marina, sightseeing boat and train rides, butterfly house and aquarium. Well worth a visit or two.
