One of our favourites on a sunny day. Only about 10 miles out of York this is a lovely National Trust walk, take a picnic and enjoy.

This is a beautiful National Trust Property which hosts more than 100 portraits from the National Portrait Gallery. It is a Georgian Mansion with restaurant, shop and garden shop. The gardens have a wild range of flowers, plants, trees and vegetables and there is also a playpark for children of different ages. A beautiful large Georgian mansion near the pretty village of Beningbrough, overlooking the River Ouse. Baroque interiors, cantilevered stairs and wood carving. Restaurant. 39 minutes drive, 23 miles away.

Interesting Georgian hall with a great collection of portraits as well as lovely gardens. It's ten miles from York and can be cycled along the river and lanes - lovely in summer.
