About this place
Named after a mythical, St. Petersburg woman known for her warm hospitality, divine Russian dishes, and fine china and linens, Mari Vanna is a cozy Russian retreat in the Flatiron District. The decor is in line with an archetypal Russian apartment — old photographs, Matrioshka dolls, dazzling chandeliers, and an extensive library of Russian literature — and the menu is comprised of classic fare. There is flavorful borscht, beef stroganoff, filet mignon strips, and blinis with assorted condiments. To fully immerse in Russian culture, though, you'll have to indulge in the restaurant's extraordinary selection of house-infused vodkas, ranging from sweet to savory, to spicy.
Tips from locals
Stunning Russian restaurant with excellent vodka and food. I highly recommend the russian pelmeni - and the vodka with infused horseradish.
This restaurant sets itself apart from the rest with its unique and atmospheric ambiance. I love how it is decorated, full of porcelain figurines, wooden bowls and spoons, matryoshka, and other items you would expect to find in a dacha, giving it an almost fairytale like, Russian Country Home feel…
